i hate this quest with my intire heart. WHY do i have to CATCH it? the dang road will be just as save if i kill it!!! also, ONE trap? just ONE?! i get that i can make my own, but a quest SHOULD be possible with the supply items!!! is there ANY way to skip this? this feels like the monster hunter equivalent of the ocarina of time water temple!!!

  • But... this quest isn't even that hard... Honestly, capture quests really aren't any harder than kill quests. So long as you remember it actually IS a capture quest. That's where most of my capture quest failures come from... forgetting what I'm supposed to do.

  • Anyway, to provide something constructive... You can quite easily make traps yourself. You can combine a trap tool (bought from markets) with a thunderbug for a shock trap, or with a net for a pitfall trap. If you see the monster limp away, you can capture it. It means it's weak. It'll travel to its nest to rest. You could try capturing it while it's asleep.

  • i guess i'll try it when he's asleep, because he just ran away but i couldn't capture him even with an ez shock trap and 8 tranq bombs. does he make a certain sound when he's wounded? or do i need even more tranq bombs?

  • Once Gendrome is about... say... 10% of his max health or so, he'll start limping away to his rest area. There's no audio cue or such, unfortunately. So it's somewhat a matter of estimating when to stop attacking the monster. Gendrome doesn't have a lot of health, so you might want to go easy on him a bit. And of course, make sure the smoke from the tranq bombs actually connects.

  • Remember. No input on the circle pad = throw tranq bomb at your feet. With input on the circle pad = tossing it forward like you would a paintball. Two should be enough. Final note, monster's don't always limp away as soon as their health becomes that low, so that's why it may look like the monster isn't ready yet, while it might already be.

  • it worked! thank you! the problem with me and catch quests is that i don't always know if they're ready because i mount them a LOT (as in: my main strategy is using the SnS's ledge climbing double mount attack(a, x after climbing a ledge)to mount and than attack) this time i was a bit more carefull and managed to break his head so he fled, after that, i trapped him in his sleep!

  • to... put him... back... to sleep... that makes sense... i guess

  • Yeah, capture quests are annoying if you don't know/forget what your doing. Thank goodness this is the only one. The ones in Monster Hunter 3 were annoying.
