It depends, really. Partially on how far you are, and partially on what you like. Tetsucabra is a popular all-purpose choice due to bonusses to defense and health. While kinda ugly, I like Gypceros armour because it provides poison immunity (a LOT of monsters love to throw poison around) and halved stamina consumption. Anything sharpness-related is also excellent for Dual Blades.

wow thank. im currently in 4 stars quests offline and 2 stars quests in the hall. i can build a tetsucabra and a gypseros, but for each piece there r 2 kind, one with better armour and another with lower armour. which one should i go for? also the protection provided isnt so much better than this ketcha wacha thing? its because i have to improve it later? tks!

The lower defense versions are for gunners specifically, as a trade-off for them being able to attack effectively from a distance. Any head-armour can be worn by both blademasters and gunners, but other armour is almost always blademaster or gunner specific. Since you're a blademaster, you want the higher defense armour.

Kecha blademaster armour has a base defense of 16. By base, I mean before you invest any armour spheres (those make a pretty big difference). While Gypceros's is lower, it provides skillpoints into arguably more useful skills than the Kecha armour does. Meanwhile, Tetsu's has 16, but that is raised further by the skillpoints it has the skill 'defense up'. That's why it's so popular.

To put it simply, picking armour is more than just comparing defense and elemental resistances (and fashion, of course). You have to take skills into account which can make the hunting life quite a lot easier. Skills become more important as you progress, and armours start getting better skillpoint distributions as well as more slots.

ok i got it now. i will build them both (the gypseros and the tetsucabra) and see what's my favourite. i also understood the bonus method, and the "over 10 points" line for abilities. i love this game more and more. thanks for helping me

That's very good. The skill system is something a lot of newcomers trip over. Seriously, you would not believe how often, even around end-game, I see people run around with random combinations of armours and decorations that do absolutely nothing for them. You also know you can add decorations to deactivate negative skills, or make specific skills stronger by adding more skillpoints?

Well, as you go, monsters just start getting more health, and it's important that you keep upgrading and crafting stronger weapons if you can. You're going to just come across this situation every now and again where monsters start lasting longer and you can't seem to speed it up. There's several other factors too that affect your kill times, though, such as where you hit a monster.

Zamtrios is a particularly interesting example because he changes his defense and elemental resistances throughout the fight. Normally he takes pretty good damage across his body and is weakest to thunder. But while covered in ice, he takes less damage everywhere but his back fin (which is then his weak point) and is weakest to fire instead. And when he's puffed up, his belly is super vulnerable.

Knowing where and when a monster is most vulnerable, and know how to capitalize on that knowledge can seriously affect your kill times. Another quick example, if you break Basarios's belly, it will take massive damage from all further attacks, from which point he will not last long at all if you keep targeting it. Hopefully you'll be able to make something out of this advice.
