    Meanwhile, hunting its high rank subspecies for its tails, plates are the thing I do NOT want, yet I get them like every other hunt. It's kinda silly.

    If only the game actually allowed players to trade monster materials... Then again, that would probably end up skewing the game balance, so maybe not.

    Collect all shinies (he'll drop them anytime you make him crash out of flight), carve the tail, break the head, complete the subquest (if it has anything to do with Rathalos. If it's something like kill 5 Ioprey, it's useless) and capture. That would give you the absolute optimal chance at a plate.

    Finally! Off a tail carve, no less. It's only taken about 18 hunts... I got hit with a fireball carving. Hard to care when you got what you came for.
