How do you breed a certain hidden power?

  • It is determined by the combination of even and odd IV values. So as long as you do not exactly know what IV your pokémon have, or at least what hidden powers can come out by breeding with two parents and how to check if the desired values are met, it is up to luck. Most breeders capable of hidden power breeding have some access suited ditto with iv 31 and 30.

So, in other words, EXTREMELY hard to get a pokemon with 5-6iv's and a desired HP?

  • Well, since you are not aiming on breeding every iv stat to the max, but one point below it for some, you will have a darn hard time finding and recognizing the material you need unless you have access to these special, *randomly number generated* (if you know what i mean, otherwise try to find out...) dittos.

  • Or N pokemon wich have 30ivs on all stats and a 6iv or 30ivs on the desired stats, it makes it easy as hell.

  • what do you mean by n pkm and how do you get them

  • N is a trainer from the gen 5 games. In Black/White 2 he releases his pokemon and they can be found in the wild. They have an IV of 30 in every stat. As for getting desired HPs on certain pokemon, it's fairly difficult but it's manageable as long as you aren't being ultra specific in the other details like shininess and gender.

  • The other way to get pokemon with an IV of 30 in the desired stat is to have an online stat calculator open and just catch compatible pokemon of a decently high level (around 25-30 or higher) and compare the stats with the stat checker to see what stat number they need to have a specific IV at that level.

  • I usually use X/Y friend safari Dittos for that. For example, a level 30 Ditto with a defense IV of 30 would have either 37, 42 or 46 as its defense stat depending on whether it has a negative, neutral or positive boosting nature. A stat checker and IV calc would say its IV is either 29-30.

  • From there, you can use the Battle Institute to see level 50 stats and it'll say the IV is 30 or 31. From there you can double check with the IV checker to make sure its not perfect. Once you have it, slap the appropriate power item from the Maison and breed and repeat from there until all the corresponding HP stats onto one pokemon then breed it with the regular mon you want the hidden power for

  • After you get to where you're hatching eggs for the hidden power, you'll have to check both their HP at Fortree City and then check their level 50 stats at the Battle Institute with an IV calc to make sure the IVs are all right. (Serebii's IV calc is a bit more suited for this as its more specific than some other calcs like Psypokes)
