I honestly think these are infact just rumour, why would Nintendo discontinue 3 Amiibos just two weeks after launch and Two weeks before Christmas? makes no sense whatsoever,I think its really just a case of seriously underestimating supply and demand.
12/07/2014 7:44 AM ·Spoilers
This doesn't make any sense to me, either, because there were misinformed retail people saying the GCN controller adapter was discontinued as well. It's just not possible that they'd only make about a million or so, not after all the hype they put into Smash.
12/07/2014 7:44 AM ·Spoilers
Well thats actually put the nail in the coffin for me. I was going to get a Marth one, oh well Smash bros has let itself down.
12/07/2014 7:50 AM ·Spoilers
Thank you for those investor briefing references; that makes me a little less hot-headed in disbelief than I was when I saw the 3DS News post. The additional mention from EB Games makes this seem more legit, but SSBU has been out in NA for just 2 weeks; they couldn't have possibly run out of their stock in 2 weeks and decided to discontinue them now. People are going to want these amiibo later…
12/07/2014 7:53 AM ·Spoilers
…and certainly people are going to want GC adapters later; I didn't get Brawl until this past April, and had my Wii not had those GC ports, that would have been disappointing. I may not get a Wii U until even later, and who knows when I'll get SSB4 if at all, but I'd still like to be able to get a GC adapter when the time comes, even if it's a year+ out.
12/07/2014 8:52 AM ·Spoilers
this rumour is maybe a conspiracy against Nintendo but if it's true Nintendo can say goodbye to a huge amount of money.
This comment contains spoilers.
12/07/2014 9:15 AM ·Spoilers
I mainly used the Gamepad for playing SSBWii U, it's like using playing the 3DS version, then I used the Wii U Pro Controller, which I like better than the Gamepad for Smash. Also I don't think the GC adapter is worth the money if it can only be used for one game.
12/07/2014 9:28 AM ·Spoilers
It honestly wouldn't surprise me if they did discontinue amiibo's like Marth, Nintendo seems almost afraid to make merchandise for anything that isn't a big money maker like Zelda or Mario, and that kinda works against the point of having a big crossover game like Smash.
12/07/2014 9:35 AM ·Spoilers
they've been increasing the prices on certain amiibo like it's a rare collectable.
12/07/2014 9:41 AM ·Spoilers
There have been cases where a manufacturer cuts back on products, or will release a limited supply of merchandise, when overall sales of other products are very low. The last two years have been terrible for Nintendo. I'm beginning to believe games like Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2 had a limited release because Nintendo didn't want to get stuck with unsold disks. I know they've cut back....
12/07/2014 9:44 AM ·Spoilers
manufacturing of the Wii U considerably. My guess is that they produce just enough of something to make a small product, and then shut it down and move on to something else. They don't want to spend more money than they have to on costs of goods sold. This is just a guess though.
12/07/2014 9:47 AM ·Spoilers
Correction: They make just enough of something to make a small PROFIT, then shut it down to move on to something else.

I'm going to hurry up getting one of the last Marths before it's too late.
12/07/2014 10:37 AM ·Spoilers
@Wii U News I saw you comment on the Nintendo Life article about the rumor of SMTxFE being cancelled. I can confirm this is untrue. I recently asked Ryo, who works at Atlus about this, and he says it is still in development, and going smoothly in his department.
12/07/2014 11:18 AM ·Spoilers
Well rumors are rumors. Why would they discontinue an amiibo this eraly on? It doesn't make sense.
12/07/2014 11:36 AM ·Spoilers
Separate rumor out there that the GC adapter may be discontinued too. T.T
12/07/2014 11:37 AM ·Spoilers
ive seen loads of fit trainer and marth amiibo's but villager, Yoshi and Kirby are sold out unless you wanna pay double for them. ive pre ordered all of wave 2,3,4 to save any upset with my kids. must amit im surprised kirby and yoshi are soldout thought they would not be limited as i thought marth and fit trainer would be ??? this ordeal has caused panic in my house.
12/07/2014 11:40 AM ·Spoilers
Wow... I still hope the GC adapter is going to be available sometime soon.
12/07/2014 11:51 AM ·Spoilers
Villager surprises me. The others... nah. It makes sense to not produce long enough to hike up demand. GC adapter demand will rise. Nintendo won't have happy customers if that is discontinued.
12/07/2014 11:54 AM ·Spoilers
@Mista-B-UK want them? I could buy 8 of each at local freddies stores. I wannt to get a Fox and do a custom and non-custom one. :D
12/07/2014 12:59 PM ·Spoilers
Oh god. Please make the amiibo I want avalible for a longer time, Nintendo. I Don't wanna suffer from not getting an amiibo I want.
12/07/2014 1:05 PM ·Spoilers
@ReeMaaRee Smash Wii U is a brilliant game with or without amiibo.

@Satter Sorry but Im not on good terms with the Tooth Fairy these days, she was spreading malicious gossip about myself and Rudolph!
12/07/2014 1:22 PM ·Spoilers
I seriously doubt that the GC adapter will be discontinued. pretty sure they'll raise the price of it since alot of people still wants it :/
12/07/2014 1:34 PM ·Spoilers
@Santa V, oh don't get me started on the Tooth Fairy. A messily dollar for a set of wisdom teeth? COME ON!!
12/07/2014 2:15 PM ·Spoilers
@Satter really? I would get a quarter or a Nickle! @Folkloner I posted something on 3DS News you may want to repeat for Wii U News @Everyone I too agree that Nintendo will not discontinue the adapter. That was expected to sell out but Nintendo wasn't sure because of the original GCN sales figures. More reason I expect more adapters will be because Hori is doing a full line of GCN battle pads
12/07/2014 2:17 PM ·Spoilers
Plus worse case there may end up being a 3rd party that can and will develop GCN adapters to help with the supply issue. Only thing is Nintendo will miss out on the funds. As for the amiibo, this is only going to be worse because of the exclusives on wave 3. The stores that stock them with the exception of Target and Toys R Us just don't stock enough.
12/07/2014 2:22 PM ·Spoilers
I wouldn't believe the rumor is true. I think it wouldn't make sense to have those 3 specific amiibo discontinued after they were sold out, unless Nintendo would actually have a reason for why they would discontinue those amiibo. Also I do hope they have the GC adapters in stock soon since those also can't be discontinued.
12/07/2014 2:43 PM ·Spoilers
Say what I thought the 3rd wave of Amiibo will release February 28
12/07/2014 2:52 PM ·Spoilers
I don't believe that because why would they stop making some amiibos?! Yes if those amiibos are unpopular then I understand but they wouldn't discontinue them after two weeks.
12/07/2014 3:02 PM ·Spoilers
So more than likely Shulk will become ultra rare, Meta Knight rare, Rosalina rare, and Lucario semi rare followed by all the other amiibo The ones that will still be in stores will be the popular characters like Mario
12/07/2014 3:04 PM ·Spoilers
@Javier and Richard honestly if they had as much stock of Marth as Mario does more than likely there would be so many Marths on the store shelves. Only people who really want Marth would have picked him up while the others would still be there. With a limited stock and no guarentee of a restock demand shoots up. Suddenly people who wouldn't have thought twice about buying Marty are trying to
12/07/2014 3:10 PM ·Spoilers
Find one. It has to do with the whole economic laws of supply and demand.
12/07/2014 4:17 PM ·Spoilers
Nintendo has mastered the art of holiday hysteria...they have a long track record of making just enough. I can't remember a launch where it wasn't hard to find one of their consoles, including Wii U. N is primed to make a killing. People/parents will buy any amiibo they see on shelves because they know they are scarce. Same with GCN adapters. Cabbage patch Marth is already pushing $70 on amazon!
12/07/2014 4:28 PM ·Spoilers
Summary of my above comment: The scarcity of some amiibos causes other less desirable amiibos to sell better.
12/07/2014 4:39 PM ·Spoilers
Just thought of something. What if it's the store that's starting the rumor in order to charge more? It's happened before.
12/07/2014 4:59 PM ·Spoilers
According to the French Nintendo president, at least the GCN Adapters are being restocked. Whether this will be regoinal or apply to the 3 amiibo remains to be seen.

12/07/2014 5:21 PM ·Spoilers
[Update: More Bad News] Video Games Plus, the same source for the above story, has now stated that Nintendo has now Officially discontinued the Wii U Gamecube Controller Adapter as well. As of this comment, this news is still unconfirmed and should be classed as a rumor.
12/07/2014 5:21 PM ·Spoilers
They also add that they've been in touch with a third-party accessories manufacturer who say they are working to bring a third-party Gamecube Adapter to market. [Source] Video Games Plus Twitter.

@Bolt: True but this constitutes Wii U News as well. @Evan: Greetings fellow NLife commenter. :) I know Ryo, he's one of my favorite artists on Miiverse. I don't put much stock in the SMT X FE cancellation or the Paper Mario rumor at the moment.
12/07/2014 5:27 PM ·Spoilers
Remember, stay wary until Nintendo makes a further statement. For all we know, this could be conclusions based on observation, possibly misconstrued for sensationalism.
12/07/2014 5:36 PM ·Spoilers
Wow. Just wow. If that's true, which I'm still wary about, that just seems sad. Not only is that somewhat-wasted money for consumers, that seems like a waste of money, resources, and effort from Nintendo. A third-party adapter seems like it could be weird to implement, but hey, people were probably already developing them anyway. Still, all of this stuff just seems to un-real to be true. Groan.

@Folkloner Nintendo of France President, Phillipe Lavoué, mentions that they're trying to restock GCN adapters quickly. What's your take on this? (Interview is in French. Find a good translator.) http://www.gamekult.com/actu/toy-games-ou-consoles-nintendo-part-en-reconquete-A141333.html
12/07/2014 7:25 PM ·Spoilers
I'm thinking that has to be a misprint. At $10 a piece Nintendo would have to sell 100,000,000 amiibos. I think they meant to say 1 billion yen.

Guys, don't be sad because of this post. There is a chance that they WON'T be discontinued.

I don't believe it. What reason could they have to discontinue those 3? It doesn't make any sense.
12/07/2014 7:50 PM ·Spoilers
Wouldn't surprise me if u can get 3rd party GameCube adapters soon! You get 3rd party controllers, mics, chargers etc. Maybe even 3rd party amiibo....but they wouldn't be allowed to use Nintendo characters so would be a little odd.

I hope this isn't true. Otherwise I better run to the store and buy these three right now.
