I just found out today but... When you get an A rank in a mission, you remove the restriction rule as well. For example, in this mission, you're forced to use Link or Midna. But after getting the A rank in this mission, you can pick any character you want. Quite interesting. However... It only works on Twilight and Termina maps. =)
