Fainfol is the incantation that makes someone fall unconscious! During 'On a Dark and Stormy Night' the 'witch' in the office casts it to make Espella fall unconscious before abducting her! :)

But the question I had was how was the other magic achieved in that scene? It looks like Espella is picked up by an invisible someone, but Layton and Luke wouldn't have had the hypnosis yet?

I wondered about that too. My theory: After Luke opened the window, lots of Shades with invisibility robes came in and did the work. Also, Layton and Luke had contact with the ink a while ago! :)
