    First one: hold dash and run for your life. Second one: youre not supposed to go back there yet. There is however three ways to get to the left side of the gate, not that you need to. 1. Find a better beam. 2. Go another way around (you will later). 3. Glitch your way through, check youtube.

    Well back then people actually read the manual. And you can see dash in the controller settings menu. But yes no real tutorial which is good. Nowadays the tutorial-like beginnings get longer and longer. Just look at Zelda. NES - none, SNES - very little, a walk to the castle. N64 - boring missions to get sword and shield. GC - more boring tut stuff. Wii - Longest.
