Finally beat the E4 and now in post game. time to EV train for the 1st time. Never really understood the competitive scene but want to try it out. Any advice or tips?

Both EV training and IV training are easy this gen. Just do the strength training for EVs. In the new town you'll unlock there will be a guy who will tell you if and what perfect IVs a pokemon @pkcentr. Youtube user Shofu has some good battle vids to help show you what to expect online. Last mini-tip: use what you want! I have farfetch'd primate and persian and its fun to take out ubers online.
