    It's from the first Ace Attorney game, when she became his assistant, she started calling him Nick because his old childhood friend did.

    She calls him Nick because that's what she heard Phoenix's childhood friend (Larry Butz) call him. Larry called him that because of the 'nix' in 'Phoenix' sounding like 'Nicks'
