Then you didn't press the right button combination before the battle!

Then after Dracula, you will face Sonic in an ugly sweater. Also slightly different ending.

Be careful though, he is really fast! They say he is powered by blast processing.

I Draculas room, before the battle, you must press: south(↓), east(→), game select(select) and a(a). Then you will hear a familiar sound, and the battle will start as normal. But after you have vanquished Dracula, Sonic will suddenly rush in and the music theme will change.

Perhaps this can be helpful to you in the future: You can have two different savegames for all virtual console titles, but if you load the first one, the second is lost.

This is how. Whe you save a game manually, this is the first savegame, which you can load any time you want. The second savegame is the automatic save that happens when you use the home button to exit a game. This automatically loaded as well when you boot up the game again.

The first and second savegame are separate savegames, not connected to each other, but since the second savegame always saves automatically, it will be lost if you load the first savegame. Normally the second savegame is enough for all your needs, but if you want to try something new, while still having the option of going back to the old savegame you can save it manually, and then reset the game.

The catch is that sooner or later you will have to decide if you want to go back to the old savegame, in which case, the new one is lost. Or if you want to make the new savegame overwrite the old one.
