Eggman had the chance to take out his greatest foes here. Instead of going for the wing, he should have gone for Tails. With Tails 'taken out', there's no one to control the plane, and Sonic would no doubt be in shock. Thus, Sonic would have likely fallen off, due to a lapse in concentration, and Tails... Well. Would have been 'lasered'.

    Actually, perhaps Sonic would survive falling out of a plane. He survived a drop from space in Sonic Unleashed, whilst in Werehog form.
