online battle on Ultimate is a blast!! only 1 who disconnected when he lost, so far. Best is to remember the name who disconnected, so you can avoid him/her the next time. Especially great (and bad for my poor nerves) is, when you never played a song before, and then try it out in online battle on ultimate for the first time!

How do you unlock vs mode?

I think it unlocked, when I played the Quest Medley. If not, then play different songs, different modes, shouldn't take too long.
