    That's not the only reason. He was an incredibly popular character that was cut from Brawl due to time constraints, and finally became relevant again.

    Mewtwo was very popular in melee. Since he's been in smash bros and was a good character, he definitely deserves a spot. Shrek is as movie character and has had only one good fighting game. Yet he still doesn't deserve a spot because he has barely any affiliation with video games and only became popular again because of the Shrek is love thing.
