Derzeit macht ein Gerücht im Internet Runde, das besagt, dass sich neue Charakter in SUPER SMASH BROS, for Wii U freispielen lassen, indem man die 3ds-Version mit der Fassung für Nintendos Heimkonsole verbindet. Durch diese Vorgehensweise sollen sich anschließend Dixie Kong, Ridly, Chorus Men und Mewtu freischalten lassen.
