Need some assistance guys, really struggling with this side quest. Any tips/team suggestions to help me beat it? Had multiple failed attempts now!

You have to kill him before he kills you. When he braves, default. When he uses regen, dispel it. Give your healer a star pendant. You might need some heavier damage dealers than what you have. Pirate, specifically, as it's the strongest job in the game. Perhaps change your knight, but keep the two handed ability on the pirate. Be ready to use a phoenix down or raise after he braves.

I'd be no help... I still haven't beat him either. You're going to be farther than me sooner or later :P

@Liz thanks as ever, will give that a go. Square should get you on board to write guides for them! @Lily yeah considering I started the game way before you it should really be the other way round in terms of closing the gap! haha

I've always seen spell fencer as a sub-job if I'm honest, as it doesn't have much fire power on its own. It works really well with just about any melee job though, particularly Ranger.

Yeah, it does seem a little underpowered for melee unless you use it's various buffs. But then they only really kick in if the enemy you're fighting has elemental weaknesses. Good other abilities in that class though! Also, I posted that screen after my original one...why the delay Miiverse?! haha

I use it with Dark Knight. It's really helpful with the powerful jobs, DK which you don't have, Pirate and Monk, because it adds the extra weakness on top of the original attack, making you stronger. But very few asterisk bearers have elemental weakness, so it won't be so useful against Qada. Against monsters, it works very well with Ranger, because it targets their species weakness as well.

I've never even tried the Monk class, got shelved immediately. Always assumed it'd be one that only got good towards the end of the levelling process. Will definitely give Pirate a try though and keep an eye out for Dark Knight later!

The Monk class can be really useful actually. Tiz is and has always been a Monk.

Monk is consistently very good. I used both monk and white mage from beginning to end, but as sub jobs for DK and spiritmaster. I couldn't beat Qada until I exchanged my knight for a pirate. My main damage dealers were a monk and black mage, and I wasn't doing enough damage to him. Eventually, my white mage ran out of MP because the battle went on too long.

Hmm, well as you both rate it (and I've boringly stuck to the same classes for ages now) might give it a try. Will do a little grinding to get that and the Pirate class up for a couple of the squad but leave Agnes as a White Mage.

i hope i can help with this. I beat Qada with a team consisting of [main job (support job)]: spell fencer (rogue), white mage (summoner), valkyrie (red mage), black mage (time mage). I hope i used the correct english names (since I´m using the german version)

Thanks Tobias, if/when I next fail will give your set up a try!

glad to help ^^ Btw, the valkyrie and red mage combo works really well in other situations as well (mainly the passive skills from red mage, as they frequently give you bonus BP whenever you dodge, get attacked, or defeat a foe)

maybe you'tr too weak at the moment... I'm at lv. 50 and I had some difficulty. By the way, the boss is very sensible to physical damage rather than magical damage, it is useful to use the monk classe along with the ranger and the knight (plus, of course, the white mage for support). Good luck :)

Think you may be right Andrea, some grinding/returning later in the story might be a good shout! As with the others though thanks for the tips.

I have Bravely Default as well. I was at a low level just like you when I was fighting Qada...and obviously I was crushed haha. As the others said, just grind and use physical jobs such as monk, archer, etc. Hope you'll do well and good luck!
