    To make it more comrortable for Wii U players counting that the joystick is above the a, y, x, b buttons rather than below it. ;)

    Or do you mean the primary button 'A' being on the right and secondary 'B' on the left? It's the other way round on other consoles. This is how buttons on Nintendo consoles have always been arranged since the NES. The primary button is nearest the thumb. It's good ergonomics.

    They are not different on Wii U. Nintendo was the first with its button layout. So it's different on the other consoles. But that's not a big deal. Companies want to distinguish from their competition.
