Got to find out how to drift on this version, without running off the track :p Much different to its console counterparts

  • Use jump slides with R and countersteers to straighten up. Rapid hop jumping as well, it has similar driving mechanics to Super Mario Kart SNES...

  • Also, if you drift long enough, after a short time you'll get blue sparks like this at the back of your kart, and you get a small speed boost.

  • It will take some time of getting used too, but I will get there, its much easier to master in MK8 , MK64, Double Dash, etc. I actually have the original cartridge, just haven't played it much :)

  • can never get enough power for the boost

  • It's always best to do it at U-turn sections. To get the mini turbo afterwards, release the drift, but don't release the accelerator. You also need to drift long enough or you won't get the boost. Took me a while as well, but you'll get the hang of it.

  • You can do it with zig zag slides on non haipins, but otherwise yes use the hairpin turns, hold R down first then turn into it, countersteer after turn and it should boost. these boosts can be triggered before going off road to cut portions of sand or grass also. same technique used in SMK to hit some high level records.
