I managed to make a craft table. I even craft a chest, map and new clothes. :P The "secret" is, press - to open the inventory then instead of dragging the materials to the slots you touch on an empty slot. This way you can add just one instead of the whole bunch. After you craft what you need just drag it to your inventory. If you create a table, drag it to an empty slot on your inventory...

To make an crafting table don't drag the wood into the spaces, click on the wood in your inventory and then click on the free spaces to craft

Close the inventory with -, move the camera to a place where you want the table, I recommend a safe place, the press ZL to put the table there. Simple than it seems at first, but this should be referenced on the manual...
