  • Yeah I just found out after going insane and beating the trees. But thank you. You don't know how to make a crafting table do you? I find this game a bit vague compared to Minecraft. But it does feel more fun surviving on it imo.

  • Yeah, you have to have 4 of the same certain types of wood, then open your inventory, highlight the wood and then click on the craft boxes. Don't drag the items into the craft box as it lumps them all together, whereas when you tap the 4 squares individually, it separates them. If that makes sense. It took me about 4 hours to realise that, drove me nuts!

  • It can be a bit vague, but it lends it an authentic survivalist edge, I think. A bit like Don't Starve, another game without instructions. I don't mind struggling through, despite eating my fists to the bone! ;) Good to hear you're enjoying it, I'm really surprised at just how good it is. Even without the forthcoming updates. Must ... stop ... waffling!

  • Not at all, it's nice to talk about games. This is Wii U at it's best imo. Play a game then talk to people like minded. The survival aspect does seem a lot more dramatic and fun than Minecraft. What I'd really like to see is some sort of multi-player.

  • Indeed, Miiverse has become a second addiction (behind gaming) and perhaps helped me become less anti-social! Ha ha! It's great to share experiences. From what I've read, local and online co-op modes will be gracing this gem of a game after future updates. No idea how long we'll be waiting, but there are many features/enhancements on the horizon. Just no cannibals, I hope! ;)

  • out of interest, I've just read that there will also be more modes, more maps, online Miiverse sharing of map creations, bug fixes and also the option to catch and train a pet. Sounds good, and all for free :D

  • Oh the social aspect of gaming. I got a PS3 a while back as I was disappointed that the Wii U didn't live up to my expectations. I got PS3 for home. It was fascinating, but virtually all MMO environments seem very bitter and competitive. The sort of places I play games to get away from. I got A Wii U for the local multiplayer aspect. Low and behold, Nintendo created a very civil, online experience

  • Yeah, I'm not personally one for social media but I do like this place. And I fully understand what you mean about those muted, harsh environments and they're the reason I stick with Nintendo games, just for the fun escapism. I'm sure there are good examples on other platforms, but this more than satisfies my gaming urges, and Nintendo have a habit of giving me exactly what I want.

  • Besides, with backlogs on here, Wii, Gamecube and N64, there's no time for anything else! Ha ha! Shame you feel disappointed by it, though. Do you mean from a party/social game viewpoint or just in general? By the way, you've tipped me over the edge with some of your comments elsewhere ... I've ordered Go Vacation! Been wanting it for years, just needed a push ;-P

  • I was only disappointed with Wii U at first. I got it for SSB. Then I got Nintendo Land out the bargain bin for local multiplayer. That game really turned me around. A civil and friendly, online(ish) gaming environment. Seeing all the different pictures and posts. My guess is when the game was play-tested, it really won people round for the future. But outsiders can't see how good the game is u...

  • Until they've played it. Go Vacation is my favourite of all time games. I've got loads of games from now to back when it started. If I could only have one of my games it would be Go Vacation. Massive free roam environments for up to 4player split screen. You don't even get those on modern machines. Light Sabre duels, custom characters, fighting, shooting... I could go on. An MMO update would be...

  • Odin - Hilarious pic, though I've no idea why I'm drooling in it ;D Stufa - Nintendo Land is a cool game, spent a lot of time on it, and glad to hear it showed you the potential of this overlooked console. With a few players gathered round, some of the games on there are just brilliant fun. High praise indeed for Go Vacation. Can't wait to have a go later, I love the idea of free roam

  • environments. I'm still hoping for an MMO Nintendo World with Mii's and minigames ... a whole, interactive world to explore and engage in. I'm surprised it hasn't been done yet. We've only seen hints of it with Wuhu Island on Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort etc.

  • A Nintendo MMO, that would be awesome. I honestly thought we would see that in a Wii Sports Resort thing for Wii U. Well project cafe sounds quite social doesn't it. After I was disappointed about Wii U I found PS3 with PSHome and FreeRealms on it. What a sight to see so many people meeting online. Sadly they were pretty bitter at times where as a Nintendo MMO would be very civil.

  • Yeah it would be cool, it's something I've wanted (and kind of expected) for a long while. Fingers crossed we see it someday. It's a shame about the FreeRealms thing, negative people have a tendency to spoil things for those who just want to unwind and relax. I always thought gaming was escapism, some folk seem to forget that.

  • Gaming has become very social and very competitive imo. There aren't many games where you can escape and chill from all this stuff you see in real life. Amazingly, Nintendo seems really focused on making their online a very civil place to go. Even if it makes them largely unpopular. They stick to their vision and just not feed the seemingly volatile masses. All we need now is an MMO.

  • I'd buy that game sir. Oh well, while I'm here... Imagine a game where you create sandbox environments. Create the characters. Meet players in an MMO hub, invite them to your creations. Or maybe have friends around for 4player, split screen co-op or vs. Such a game is possible. There are some that skim this surface. But no company would dare allow for such freedom.

  • Bring it on! I'd love that :D By the way, Go Vacation is a riot. Last night I unlocked my villa and am exploring the mountain resort, driving to the peak of the mountain, stopping to play tennis on the way, then paragliding ... to finish by kayaking down river ... felt very liberating. Love that picture above, by the way. Hilarious :D
