Thank you Nintendo Store for prompt delivery. After recent heartbreaking events, I'm hoping this beautifully designed game can knit some joy back into the world. Maybe teach us that it's not wrong to celebrate what we have, even if we feel guilty for doing so in sad times. I'm playing this with you in my thoughts, (legendary) Mr Satoru Iwata :)

  • This is actually 100% a sidescrolling Mario game - only without the timer. The egg-throwing mechanism is perfect for players like me, who prefer to take their time when playing. I personally like this game more than Mario, as it can easily be just as challenging, but you can also move on, if you have trouble. The levels get progressively harder, and they remain great fun even on 'mellow mode'.

  • Agree completely. It's immediately accessible, and reminds me why I love Yoshi games so much. The level designs are incredible, and Moto Yoshi ... wow! Too much fun! I know precisely what you mean about the timer, I wish I could switch it off in 3D World. There's something very liberating about this chilled out style of play.

  • Oh, and it quickly becomes very challenging! I can see it taking a long time to collect all the items and things hidden away. And I'm desperate to "not" use any of those special items ... Not sure if I'll be able to resist temptation down the line! Ha Ha! Only just onto World 2, but I'm already totally immersed. There's a lot of love in this game. Another classic for this awesome console.

  • It's an amazing game. I'm currently flutter-jumping around world 6. A lot of collectibles are ingeniously hidden...and some of the levels are just complete 'wow' moments. It looks and sounds so good, you can tell the development team put a lot of effort into it. Did you see one of the videos they posted earlier in the year? They actually visited a wool shop to make sure they got everything right!

  • Charlie - Apologies, only just seen this comment. World 6 seems a long way away! Just conquered the 2nd world, and I use the term loosely; tons of stuff to collect still. You really can see all the effort that went into it. So much detail you can feel your eyes melting into the TV. I loved that wool shop video, they seemed to have such fun learning more about the craft, and it certainly shows

  • in the game. Not that I know a great deal about wool and knitting (knit one, pearl one!) but the whole design idea is perfect for Yoshi. The many transformations he undertakes is sublime, as is the detail in the enemies, such as being held together with pins etc. Brilliant :)

  • It's actually "purl". Told you I knew nothing about knitting!

  • `Knit one, pearl one...` I heard a lot of that when my girlfriend was watching tutorials on YouTube!

  • Ha ha! Glad someone else has heard of it, too ;-D It's one of those random things stored away in my memory somewhere. My mum used to do a bit of sewing when I was growing up, probably to get away from my constant demands for He-Man toys! I might mention it to her, wonder if she still has the skills! ;)

  • Your girlfriend must love Woolly World! Mine does, but she's more into sewing. Anything to do with fabric is appealing though, I think.

  • Apart from good old cross-stitch at school, I've never had the pleasure... This game is so lovely, I've actually thought of trying to knit a friend for my Yarn Yoshi amiibo! And speaking of He-Man - we need a Masters of the Universe game on Wii U! The last one came out on PS2, and was a bit rubbish...

  • Ah man, you were one of the cross-stitch kids! The other class did that, we did clay trays and mine was terrible ... needed a tray for my broken clay tray in the end! That's a great idea, though. Hope you try it out. It'd be such a rewarding achievement. Wonder how difficult it would be. He-Man on Wii U! Now you're talking! Playable Skeletor, complete with whinging voice and lame threats!

  • Probably not *too* difficult, as the pattern wouldn't be very big... Construction might be a bit tricky. I'll keep you apprised of any future developments. [insert completely-evil-and-doomed-to-fail plan here] hahahahahahahaha!
