This is my GX Tempest set. I can also vary it with the Relic DB's: sleep, paralyze, fire, water - all 3 slots.

Well evasion sets are made for almost all weapons, ESPECIALLY for those that have no shield! Without shield all you can do is evade. And as you say Josh, I also use Dash Juice with DB often, no problem at all now that raw meat is available at the Wycoon. I still like the other Tempest set more, it's for elemental weapons (esp. water) + Crit.Eye, ElmtCrit, the counterpart to the Mizuha set.

EMPHASIZED (ESPECIALLY). To be honest I forgotten how to use Evasion skills, I learnt that not some WEAPONS needs EVASION because they don't have SHIELDS, It's nice to use against roars but not all. It is hard to get the timing and if you get used to it, when you use other sets without it you would play like you have it and would want it in all sets which is a bad habit.

Also Mega Dash Juice is also a bad habit. Everything are just like bad drugs, they're addictive. I personally rarely use MDJ. I guess we all have to learn how to manage our stuff and don't always depend on them at all times. I have to review and revise evasion again.

MDJ is not a bad habit, it's an option you can choose when preparing is all. A bad habit would be doing LR quests with G rank gear and just charging in because it enforces reckless behaviors that will get you smacked around later. Just like might seeds and other items MDJ's just give you options to maximize your ability to do damage in a given fight bc you can concentrate on attacking.

I think one of the worst habits is when players sleep monsters wo a heads up either before or during the hint. Assuming others look at their sets isn't a good idea.

Josh, I agree. Also it's not possible for me to rely entirely on evade extender, or get used to it too much. I fight Deviljho in an armor without evasion or evade extender, and of all my 40 sets only 1 other has evasion+2. Good DB players don't use Dash Juice often, but it's an option you have.

For example the GX Crimson set comes with Constitution -2. Here you can gem out the neg. skill or get 2 other good skills in. I decided to gem useful skills in and go with Const. -2. In difficult fights I use Dash Juice, then the neg. skill has no effect. This game gives many choices, that's the beauty in it. You can combine and try many different sets in fights.

And Josh, no matter if I make low or high rank or G rank quests - I always wear my G rank sets :D

using evasion +3 is a bad habit, imagine using evasion +3 so much you dont realise you have the skill. dont use it too much. i would only use evasion +3 on lance because why the earth would u use it on DBs?

you evade when you roll, make a side hops etc., so for all these actions evade extender + evasion helps. Some people make many evasion sets, I prefer to make power sets as I said above.

I'm not saying that it is actually bad but don't rely on them too much, you can only carry 5 which is probably enough, lasts for 5 mins? The problem is when you don't have it, stamina management is important, Evasion+3 is good for side hops and back hops and bit for rolls. Definitely use MDJ when the monster is mounted and down to get the most damage possible. Wait! Eva+3+MDJ+DB= Bushido Style DB?

The skill that you actually need is your knowledge of fighting the monster, when to attack and when to GET OUT OF THE WAY! I saw on reddit that we shouldn't be using armours or defence, but knowledge is needed, it's probably tough. Just get your full potential. Whatever else needed.

Evasion skills are only a bad habit as are most things, when you can't live wo them. I have 3 sets built for evasion bc they let me be ultra aggressive in fights. Having a plan though is the most important thing. And as for g rank armor on LR quests, I use them too. I was only commenting that letting yourself treat the hunts like a bulldozer can lead to sloppy hunts later on. Still gotta dodge!

And as for evasion 3, Jonathan, it makes monsters feel like they're moving in slow motion. I've faught s. zinogre's, chaos gores, and other g rank monsters wo healing. And I'm attacking constantly. It's a great skill for literally rolling through attacks into a monster so that instead of being defensive, you're always attacking. It's great for any weapon though my favorite for switch axes. I...

...hint my double apex Jho quest with it and not only am I the one not fainting, but I'm healing others, doing the lions share of damage, and mounting more than Glaive users. Jho starts spamming his dragon breath and I'm rolling through it to Attack him while others usually are far away.

And for the record, a lot of my friends think evasion lancing is cheap and won't hunt with people who use it. I think it's a totally valid technique. As is using any legitimate armor with its skills, evasion 3 or whatever they might be to suit your play style. MH has so many options so it's logical that players use what works best for them. Suggesting otherwise is in my mind, silliness.
Yeahs2 -

I have 40 different sets, MH is very balanced. When you have a defensive or evasion set, then the power skills are missing. Players who want to make speed runs usually have power sets. Then there are skills like HG Earplugs that gives you the advantage to attack while the monster roars or Tremor Res. ... When I make a set then I try to make the best out of the potential it has.

When you want special skills like Iron Wall, Ferocity or many others, you can make mixed sets and see where it fits best. I just don't see how an evasion set like the GX Tempest should only be for evade lance or LS. So no one ever rolls or dodges with DB or other weapons? LOL When going on a quest I have in mind if I have Evade Extender or not in the set, there's no problem with that.

In my experience of using Evasion+3 with lance, it is quite a risk to triple hop through an attack, I got caught a few times which is awful. I'm still thinking what set to use for Jho.
