Xenoblade Chronicles diary: Episode 1.

Even though Pokkén tournament was released yesterday, I made more progress in 2 hours of Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) today than 4-5 hours in Pokkén. Today I beat a boss I couldn't defeat before and I have happily grinded 4 extra levels. Because every level matters.

    The bosses are without a doubt harder than in X, which makes me feel more satisfied when I defeat them. I miss the ability to run through areas, which makes exploration longer, but I seem to get better drops from enemies. X certainly improved the battle system, but the story seems to be better in Chronicles so far.

    But I'm not trying to judge which game is better. Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X are both great RPGs from a series I would like to see more of. Different as they may be.

    XC has a better story but XCX has better open world visuals.

    The story and characters are better in XC, while XCX has better gameplay and exploration. The combat system in XCX is the same, but because X has a reclassing system for your custom character, as well as Skells and Skell customization, you get more combat options. None of the characters have visions of enemy attacks though and as mentioned, I get more satisfaction from beating the bosses in XC.

    I'm on my way out of the Satorl March at this point, so I can't give the most detailed comparison, but I would also see if I could find Xenogears and the Xenosaga trilogy after I have finished this game. It's a really great series this far.
