    I hate it when this happens. It's based on accuracy I believe. If you get all the pre-summon section perfect, you get a full summon. Even getting greats or goods, which does not break your chain, still reduces your chance of getting a full summon. So in theory, getting just one great among the pre-summon section can still give you a small chance of getting a chocobo. :S

    I suspect it may have something to do with the number of notes before the summoning. It can be as low as 4 notes for some songs, getting 1 great in 4 has a lot more impact than say 1 in 20. :S

    On Ultimate difficulty I tend to find that if I get a single Good, I'll get the Chocobo and outside of that I always seem to get my summon. Might be stricter on the easier difficulties due to the lack of notes, I dunno.
