Is there an upgrade in the full game that reduces the recovery time from knock backs? In the demo it takes a long time to recover from certain knock backs while blocking. In some videos I could see players who could counter much quicker.

  • The only skill that reduces knockback while guarding is the Guard skill, which comes in three variations, +1, +2, and -1, though you don't want -1. The positive Guard skills also reduce the stamina and chip damage you take while guarding.

  • ok, thanks Andrew!

  • Ya depending on the monsters attacks, some will knock ur hunters back harder but the guard+ skill, mainly guard+2, helps reduce knock back against most attacks but only certain armor sets has that skill. Course u could always try gemming it in yourself if u have the materials to make the decoration for it and if ur armor sets has enough slots for it to build its skill point up to the required-

  • -amount of points needed to activate the skill. But this may all be too confusing for u atm about armor skills and adding armor skills yourself. But ik you'll pick up on it. Ur probably gonna even research it lol. Summerwind makin sure she's prepared XD.

  • Hey Summer, don't worry so much about counter-attacking. Avoiding the damage is what's important! There are powerful monsters in this game as I'm sure you can see! Save those potions! You might need them :)

  • thank you CB, yes I will find out over time! Jay, I'm training with the Charge Blade and found out that blocking with the charged shield is essential with this weapon. Also I watched some vids of 'insane' Charge Blade players and saw that they took no damage when blocking and suffered almost no time delay from knock backs. That's why I asked :)

  • I also use the CB. if you get really good with any weapon you could get through a battle untouched. I saw a video of someone do that in MH3U versus Deviljho with a switch axe lol. Just be careful if you plan on using guard points, they're very risky.

  • As convenient as guarding is, in some situations, its best to just worry bout avoiding damage completely as to not lose any health. Guarding IS very important and is good to do when ur cornered or getting pressured, but avoiding damage as best as u can is ideal in hunts. Course it all depends on the wep tho. CB IS better with guarding than evading and once u master guard ponts with the CB then-

  • -you'll be able to pretty much stay undamaged most of the hunt.

  • yeah the guard points are difficult to use. It needs a lot of practice and knowledge of the monster movements. Guarding with the charged shield is great, especially when the monster runs you over, then you are close enough for an attack. I love the Charge Bl. for it's versatility and strength. A lot to learn too :)
