    It's not an easter egg. When you used the "Kettle" to transport you to Octo Valley, it transported you all the way there, which is a fair distance between Octo Valley and Inkopolis. There is however a giant ______ in Kcto Valley as an easter egg. See if you can find it!

    The main reason why it's called Octo Valley is because this place is where the Octarians Live. They use the Kettles to come up here and invade Inkopolis. The giant octopus creation is just a landmark indicating that this is Octo Valley. So you are both right in some instances.
