Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U

As you can see, I can hit home and screenshot in 8 player Smash if I do it right before the match starts. But once it begins, the home button is disabled even for the results screen. In previoys versions, it was possible to hit the home button while in 8 player Smash. Now it's not. I haven't seen this change adressed ANYWHERE. Is it just my system having trouble then?
