Is this version worth purchasing?

I am not the biggest Minecraft fan, mainly because of the limitations of being stuck on non-portable console (Including PC). But I have had the game since very early beta and I have not played it for about half a year now. I do not know what this edition is like, are the controls similar to the xbox/playstation versions or do they work differently?
