Question

If I breed with a destiny knot it should pass down 5/6 IVs right? So if I breed two pkmn with the same 5 perfect IVs why do I often only get 2 or 3 perfect??

    It's 5/12. It chooses five stats from both parents. It's possible for it to pass down the imperfect stat, in turn would randomize an otherwise perfect stat.

    But if 10/12 IVs are perfect how am I getting pokemon with only 2 or 3 perfect?

    If it selects the imperfect stat to pass down, then it will choose another stat to randomize that doesn't get passed down.

    Case in point, you really shouldn't be getting less than 4 IVs most of the time if your perfect IVs are the same for both parents.
