Ridley could be part of a Toon Link/Alfonzo trick though, getting replaced with Meta Ridley when Ridley is in the fight. Sakurai is a troll after all. Remember what he said about Zero Suit Samus?

Sora is a popular pick because he's kind of an odd, well-balanced character. He's got a variety of different abilities in the KH series so its easy to make a moveset for him.
