It would be nice if you fixed fire hopping, Nintendo. Oh yeah, battle mode needs changed to...it puts me to sleep! Anytime I see someone Fire Hopping I end up being sick all over my GamePad. Did I mention how stupid they look too?

    I've been in plenty of races were a guy that is fire hopping has won over and over again because nothing gets thrown at him.

    It sounds like I'm saying you can't win if someone is fire hopping. It isn't insanely unfair like snaking (Mario Kart DS) but it can be pretty unfair at times...

    Most of the time it's easy to do, but at certain times (like the final turn of Bowser's Castle) it has to be left left right right rather than the usual left right left right, otherwise you end up in the offroad. That's an example anyway, plus you have to know which roads count as downhill and therefore not faster to hop on.

    Yes, but that's one turn on that track anyways... if they're already far ahead because of the hopping, it's not gonna matter, most likely...

    No item racing is the only place i see a significant advantage. Not saying there isn't one but there's too many other variables too say 'i lost because of fire hopping'

    I'm not saying I only lose because of fire hopping. There's been plenty of times were the other racers raced better than me, but there has been times were I've lost because of fire hopping.

    I'm not really convinced by the argument that there's no advantage to fire hopping. Gaining two seconds and having it taken away by items is still gaining two more seconds than the guy who just races normally and gets hit by items.

    Oh my! If you gain 2 seconds, then someone passes you out because of an item.. what happens???? you go into minus seconds. Sheeeesh!!! Think it through!

    What if those two seconds are right before the finish line and the item doesn't get to Mr. Hopper in time?

    If you come to a turn that gives you a double boost and someone is 5 Kart lengths ahead of you, you can hop to make up the difference. If you lead, and get hit, fire hopping can keep you ahead. These scenarios are so rare in online that it's not worth mentioning. Technically, it is an advantage.

    Hmmmm...now where did I get the inspiration to create a MK8 tournament called "The devoid of icons and gentlemans agreement to (sorry ladies an old saying but it most certainly includes you too) not fire hop". Update...Dang it just tried and the name won't fit, ah well back to the drawing board.

    Never liked fire hopping, I consider it a cheat even tho its not really. But online gaming is only fun to mews if its fair for everyone. Anyway I'll usually find a dif group if I see that happening a lot. Win or lose I don't care if ppl are better than mews but I like when its on equal footing meow
