That pesky mirror mode! I've almost just about got three stars in everything. Except mirror mode. It messes with my head too much and causes me to forget how the normal tracks went. I'll probably never get that gold kart. I also can't figure out the last few stamps I'm missing (81/90). The 4 staff ghosts I need are easy to figure but the 5 remaining character stamps will take some sleuthing...
Yea, I know. The three stars I have are all in 150cc normal. Mirror mode is a complete fail for me. I struggle there just to even get a bronze cup. Then when I go back to normal mode I get confused and start failing there too, haha!
Not for awhile for sure. I finally fired up Smash Bros. Brawl after pre-loading the new one and after a marathon run I'm starting understand why people like the franchise. There's more depth than a causual glance in the past had revealed.
Well since midnight when my preload activated I can safely say that I may never play Brawl again. Smash Wii U is epic mate! Can't wait to battle you online. I just did spectate mode online so far. I really am a noob to this series. But I learn fast, heheh
Hi Jawatwo, I saw the Link Amiibo down Asda, when I was getting my holiday photographs developed. They only had Link and Peach available. I was thinking about getting Link, because he can be used in MK8, Smash Bros, Hyrule Warriors and has now been confirmed for the new Zelda game as well mate. That works out as £2.50 per game :)
I'm not sure if I will be buying any others yet, but it's a very big money spinner for Nintendo. The Amiibo's alongside Smash Bros are really going to push through Wii U sales for Christmas etc :)
The cool thing about amiibo is you can buy several and have your real world friends train them up in their style. They really do add function beyond what can be obtained thru cpu programming alone. E.G. as a doorprize at a sm4sh tournament where all the winners are required to help train it. Human amiibo are unbeatable for me (I can sometimes score a few stock) even though I can usually beat CPU9.
It's all good :) ... couldn't resist picking up a few more Amiibo today (Pit, Diddy, etc.), and also got some extra DK's and Mario's so I can experiment with them a bit more. I want to see how similar several matching ones will end up when trained by different people.

Hi Jawatwo, I've played MK8 more then any other Wii U game and I play it every month since release. I can't wait to try out the new tracks and the other new features, this coming week my friend :)
i need to get my 200 down as well. just really not into the 200cc. you have no idea how happy i am that your tournament is only 150 cc.some have changed to the 200cc and i no longer join in. i miss racing with them sooooo much. as long as it remains at 150cc i will be there every tuesday.♡♥♡♥
Don't worry I will never change my tournament to 200cc, I don't enjoy it so much as 150cc. You shouldn't need to use brakes in MK8, if you are a pretty good racer, it's not natural to me. I was hoping CJ might have his earlier tournament as 150cc and his later tournament at 200, so he keeps all his friends happy. Nevermind I enter four other tournaments besides my own, which are set at 150cc :)
once again i missed yesterdays tournament, next week i don't have anything to do on that day. no CJ will not change eith one. that group and him are very much into the 200cc.
So I've noticed Maxi, he is still a very friendly young man. To be fair I find it hard to beat him at 200cc, but beat him more often at 150cc. It's all good fun with friends, but I am slightly competitive. You have become a pretty tough opponent yourself.
Thank You i'm competitive, as well, who isn't ? Yes it is great to have fun when you are amoung friends.however i find in some tournaments to be more stressful then fun, but i'm not a give up person.as long as i get some good hits in i'm ok!!!
You took the words right out of my month Max, I just finished CJ's tournament set at 200cc and I found it more stressful then fun. It was still nice to race them, but far less fun. At least I can take the corners flat out on 150cc, if I take them right. 200cc is too fast and frustrating for me, especially if I get attacked frequently as well. Lol
Also in my tournament so far I'm no where near the top, but I feel the races are much more fair and fun for everyone involved. It was pleasing for me to see Jawatwo, hot on my toes in this week's tournament. I remember beating my friend Colgo in the early days, but I'm very lucky to win a race against him this days. I think some people fire hop, but it's a technique I don't know how to do.
I could try learning fire hopping on YouTube, but I would feel I'm cheating against my friends in doing so. Unless it's a technique everyone can do, then it gives you an unfair advantage. IMHO
Some tracks have shortcuts and I know there is a perfect line for taking each corner. You can tilt the stick at different angles for power sliding, these are all fair techniques which people can learn on time trials. When I see people hopping all over screen like crazy, I know they must be fire hopping. I don't mind losing, if I feel I have lost fairly.
Sometimes you can be attacked a lot, but Mario Kart has always been fun for this reason. I love it when my daughter beats me in a race, she beat me in a 200cc race the other day.
I remember not enjoying 150cc at one point, because I found it too fast. Lol - Practice makes perfect as the saying goes. I see Peter is forever improving at MK8 from his post, which is nice to see him enjoying MK8 more again :)
