I just swapped round the TV's in my bedroom. I now use the LCD to watch TV, and the LED for my console. WOW, what a difference the LED actually makes. I can make out quite a bit more detail in MK and a couple of other games I have tried since swapping. If I had known this before, I would have swapped them over long ago.

  • It really depends on the model and type and even year of the tv. I had a good LCD about 7 years ago and thought it looked really good till it started to go bad less then 3 years ago. Good thing was I got a replacement because of a warrant. The new LCD was cheaper but the years and bump in technology made a huge difference. I couldn't believe how much better games looked!

  • I guess you are right. My LCD is around 2 years old, and my LED is less than a year. One thing I do remember though, is the warning NOT to get a Plasma. Even now, it could last 10-15 years, or it could blow the next day. That is the only draw back with Plasma TV's. When I still had my PS4, I seriously thought about getting a 4K TV. But, it has trouble displaying at native 1080p at a good frame

  • rate, so there is no way it is going to achieve 4K resoulution without dropping to around 10-15 FPS at best. Also, don't believe there are any games available for consoles yet that run in 4K mode anyway.

  • Yeah I don't believe so either. I remember a while back that I hated playing Zen on my tv because there was a slight delay in the response to hit the the ball with the flippers. I was thinking I guess my tv just can't handle the speed it takes to keep up. Then one day I got clever and tried to figure out why this was happening. I was strictly gamepad for Zen then. Needless to say I turned game

  • Had my LG plasma for 5 years now, still a quality picture and never had any bother with it.

  • I find it is pretty wise investing some money in a good tv, at least for us gamers. It is my/our major hobby! Last year, I bought a LED 3D tv only to play Wii U and watch 3D games. And I find it will be usefull until the beginning of the next gen. Because probably not even the next gen in 2018-2020 will have dozen of ultra hd games.

  • Anyway, I am a bit sad that the Wii U doesn't have 3D games. Before the release, there were pics in the internet of stereoscopic 3D settings on the gamepad.

  • Going back to the TVs, if you look close to a plasma TV, you can see that the pixels are much larger than the pixels on a LCD or LED TV.

  • I think LED is better for Wii U than LCD since it's bright and colorful which is perfect for Nintendo games.

  • I love the way Wind Waker HD looks on on LED TV.
