It bothers me that the only semi-challenging thing about 150cc is the random item storms, avoiding which is almost purely based on luck rather than skill. It's frustrating to start over just because I suddenly get spammed with all kinds of shells with barely any time to react on the final lap on only one track of the whole cup

    I know how you feel :P I like had to play the Special Cup (Mirror) more then ten times, just because I kept getting second place on Rainbow Road, because I suddenly got hit by a bunch of shells and other items and I had to get first place because I wanted 3 stars xP

    Best "strategy" for me is that I'm staying 3rd or 4th and on the last lap race to first. Also noticed today, that if you win one cup, next time ai will hit you with all the items :D

    That's exactly what I mean :P I usually don't even bother to finish the cup if I haven't won every race 'cause it's fairly easy for most of the time for me to not try getting 3 stars on the first try, but then come the shells
