    I think the time in which you finish also matters. Try to be in constant first place, drive like a time trial!

    That would be much more balanced as the randomness of the weapons can ruin consecutive first place wins!

    I only once had a three star ranking while ending second in one of the four matches. So it is pretty rare to get three stars while not winning every race. However weapons etc. also slow you down (Hence your lower finish). So just focus on time and the wins will come.

    Thanks Simon, just got 54 points and x3 1st place wins by a margin and x1 4th place (due to randomness) = 1 star. Yeah the timing must be fairly strict :)

    You can even miss out on the triple star when finishing every race in first. I'd still say it's one of the easiest Mario Karts to triple star fully though, but even when you do, the stars don't show up next to your name when you play online.
