By the way it's funny how, since Flappy Bird suddenly became popular, everyone seems to have forgotten that there were LOADS of very similar games before. There has been a game where you control a helicopter through a procedurally created world that works very similar, many years before Flappy Bird. Also Balloon Fight, though that's arguably different and much more refined.

Seriously, the term "Flappy Bird clone" is like saying "Oh, another Earthworm Jim clone" when the next Mario, Rayman or Sonic gets announced.

Oh no... Flappy bird is boring!!! Hope they don't rip off Nintendo graphics like flappy bird did! I think this would be ok if you could do multiplayer (one on gamepad one on tv) an race with speed up button and fast dive button aswell as usual fly button!

@Friik Funny thing is the Rocket Barrel levels in Donkey Kong Country are basically Flappy Bird on steroids with good level design. I really have no idea how Flappy Bird got so popular when there were many similar games that pre-dated it. Reminds me of how Angry Birds got popular even though there were similar games before it as well.

@JV I agree, mobile and console games tend not to mix well. If it's a game like Injustice, where the mobile and console versions have different gameplay elements, I'm fine with it, but the simple controls and lack of depth you find in most mobile games like flappy bird tend not to work well on consoles.

All the Nintendo fanboys hating on Flappy Bird... It's nothing that special, but not a bad game. One of the best mobile games IMO

@Alex: his isn't Nintendo's call. The person behind Blok Drop U and Shut the Box made this one too. I think it's a bit worrying if the eShop will be flooded by $1 games made by one person in... one week? One dollar isn't much, but Blok Drop U lasted 30-40 minutes... compared to say Mario Kart, that's an EXTREMELY expensive experience if you count 'dollar per hour'! And a rather bad one, too...

@Douglas: That says more about the state of the mobile gaming market than it does about the "Nintendo fanboys"™. Seriously, I've hacked a mini variant of that game as part of a geocache of mine in less than a week...

The last mobile game I played was the room/the room 2. It was really good. One of the better ones out there. I haven't downloaded another since. Must be close to a year now.

I don't mind the Wii U getting a flappy bird clone, only wish that if there will be one it doesn't look so plain, dry, and simple. Will there be anything about it worth getting when I can play the real thing already?

.... Why is everyone hating on Flappy Bird? It's fun enough. I think of App Store games as the modern day Game and Watch. They are simple, fun, and meant to burn time.
