Mateus' family is at the front lines, so he is alone, just like everyone else at the academy. One day after walking back to his dorm, he encounters a scientist fighting one of the aliens. The scientist is killed, but she passed on the sword Lightning Fang (basically a recolor of the Monaco from xenoblade chronicles, being black and yellow) to Mateus.
