I don't think a fanbase being overactive is a problem, I enjoy watching people interact with media, and make it a part of them. It's when groups of those fanbases consume everything around them, bothering people who aren't in said fanbase, and gatekeeping and shunning/bullying people for not being up to some pretend standard that doesn't even matter.
