There are now 2 types of bombs in game: the original spherical one, and "square bombs". The square version is great as a mine or C4 explosive because it can be easily placed, and doesn't roll unless thrown. YOU CAN SURF ON YOUR SHIELD AND EVEN SHOOT ARROWS WHILE DOING SO (however it does damage the shield and lower durability).
