Hyrule has been always been big look at twilight princess it's just now we have coastlines and mountains (other than death moutain) and creatures and plants that now fill the void (shudders about OOT's empty hyrule field) Most of the space that was in previous Zelda title were often areas that served one to two purposes or is traveling space.
