@Bobby, well, the Genesis came years after the NES, but before the SNES, so really, SEGA reached the 16-bit age before Nintendo did. And the CD add-on was decent enough to make Nintendo turn to Sony for help on making an "SNES-CD," of which became Sony's Playstation when Sony left the project.
