It's also not fair to people who have the Wii U version but not 3DS. This is coming from someone who doesn't have a New 3DS, the Ice Climbers could be New 3DS exclusive, just like how vanilla 3DS users can only upload 3DS snapshots to Miiverse because you can't access it while playing Smash Bros on a vanilla 3DS.
