I guess my problem is that I don't respect chimps; I totally respect chimps. And gorillas, orangutans, elephants, dolphins, whales, and other intelligent, social animals. I just don't think there's much wrong with keeping them in captivity so long as they're treated humanely. Adequate space, food, and stimulation are what most animals need; not our very specific human concept of freedom.
