PSX was $299 though, and the hardware was actually kind of lame; companies had to make lots of compromises when porting 3DO games to the PSX, check out ewhac's Youtube channel if you want specifics. And the 3DO could do 3d, lots of the games were polygonal! But the PSX had such a great marketing blitz... I think that was why it took over. That, and the Saturn was such a debacle :D
