You have to put a frame in your canvas. Some templates that you can choose already include frames. To add a frame, click on the plus button on the very bottom right of the screen. Click outside of the frame to place it. Then press start and choose "clean copy". Once in the clean copy mode, you select your frame. This will give your color and screentone options (pattern drawing).
