Custom Knight gains experience from fighting and from collecting gold. Experience is for gaining levels. A new ability, option, or health/magic max increase is gained with each level. Regular Shovel knight, on the other hand, gains abilities and enhancements through items, potions, armor, and meal tickets. Custom knight gains options and abilities not available to regular shovel knight.
