Not happening. The least they will do are small things like this to troll as you said. Possibly Serena will say her feelings MAYBE at the end of the series somewhere but it will just be one sided since the writers are only doing this because Kalos is based on France. Ash and Misty were treated the same way until the end when Misty "confessed" (not really) and nothing came of it.
