U press A on the first arrow of an section of how far the ball goes and another arrow with come and u quickly press A again and hopefully u'll landed on red square one between the 2 blue sides to kick the ball. If u miss kicking the ball or if u kick the ball into an water or lava, it's one lost par but it'll land at it's edge or back where u start and try it again.
