I'd be glad to help you learn but it will be tough. You use tap-jump? (aka jumping with the circle pad by using up. You can disable it for it to only work for doing moves, jumping only with x and y really helps air game a lot... Trust me, i forced myself to use it and i don't regret it a single bit.
