The rats were always so sweet. They'd always come up to the side of their cage nearest to me and peek over the bars when I entered the room. And they were so playful and inquisitive. Smokey and Cream gave me a strong instinct of protection. Having to euthanize them due to agonizing fatal cancer scarred me. That left me with a much stronger loyalty instinct, but I still miss them very much...
